What is your view of God? Is He like Santa Claus who knows if you've been bad or good so you need to be good in order to get what you want? Or is He like Zeus who plays with humanity like pawns on a chess board, at His whim? Maybe you see God as a magician or like a genie in a bottle who will grant your desire if you say the right words.
I have found that the best way to view a person is to listen to what they say about themselves - from their own mouth. It's wonderful to have good representation but we really can't get to know someone until we are in their presence and hear from them as to who they are.
The same is true with God. He talked about Himself and revealed His heart in the books of Genesis through Numbers and its worth reading those books with, what I call, God View glasses. Get to know who HE says He is; what He loves, what He hates, what He wants, what He cares about and even what He doesn't care about. He's not like a man - He doesn't walk away, forget, or change His mind on a whim. And He can't be manipulated. He is Almighty God. Get to know Him through His eyes and you will be so amazed at who He really is!
