God’s total “View” can be summed up in one name – Jesus Christ! He is the only view that matters in the eyes of our Father. The challenge is for us as well. Is He all that matters? Is He all we see or at least desire to see more and more? In Job 31:1, Job states that he has “made a covenant with his eyes” to see only what is pure. He then goes on to ask those two questions about God’s choice and God’s inheritance. The answer was, is, and always will be Jesus Christ – He is our chosen inheritance!
Paul says in many places throughout his letters that God enabled us to share in the inheritance that He gave His Son. Everything is ours because everything was created through Him, by Him, and for Him (Colossians 1:16,17) and everything belongs to us as well! (1 Corinthians 3:21,22) We are a rich people because of Jesus Christ. Oh yes, and we also get to suffer with Him, too. Sorry. I didn’t make that up. Paul enlightens us on that one. Romans 8:17 – “And since we are His children, we will share His treasures – for everything that God gives to His Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are to share His glory, we must also share His suffering.” It’s quite lovely up to that point isn’t it?
If we view Jesus Christ through the eyes of our Father and writers like Paul, then suffering takes on new meaning, so does joy and fulfillment. Making a covenant with our eyes to see Christ more and more means we will have to share in all that is dear to Him whether we’re suffering or not! We will be consumed with His Commission to tell people the Good News of Christ! He is the truth about God’s great kindness to sinners. He is the Living Hope to a hopeless world. He is true freedom, forgiveness and Life!
Jesus Christ is the answer to God’s secret plan. In Him are mysteries, treasures, wisdom, knowledge, adventure and many more wonderful things. I meet people all the time who are looking for all of these things and in all the wrong places. They are momentarily satisfied until that point when it all runs out, leaks, ends or disappoints, then they have the tendency to become cynical or blame God for their troubles and disappointments.
I love to talk to people when they are at this point because I get to tell them that I know a Man who has seen it ALL! He gave Himself to people and even shared His mysteries and adventures with them and yet, most didn’t want to hear Him. What disappointment! It’s even more amazing that by Him, through Him, and for Him everything was created and yet God still had to devise a plan to buy it all back from an enemy who stole it! If I created something and someone stole it, I certainly wouldn’t want to buy it back from them. I’d be yelling about it all the way to the courts! Yet Father planned for His Son to be born a human being, go through everything that humans experience, and then pay for the restoring of HIS creation with HIS blood. Is it me, or is that still crazy?
I am filled with wonder and awe that God has chosen our inheritance to be Jesus Christ. We need eyes to see Him more clearly, for Jesus Christ is God’s View of everything!
