Annual July Trip To Nicaragua

Picture
Every year in July we host a short term mission trip to Nicaragua. We have been heading up this specific trip since 1999 and visiting some of the locations since 1989! We work hard and have fun, worshiping with our words and deeds to whole time!!! Join us, the trip costs $650 plus the going rate for airfare (you are responsible for purchasing your own ticket to Managua). Everyone is welcome...

Annual January Construction Trip To Central America

Picture
Starting in January of 2013 we will begin bringing a construction team to Central America for some real "barn raising" work. Most of our time will be spent in a community we have a long term commitment to, Los Braziles, located just outside of the capital city of Managua. In 1998 Hurricane Mitch stalled over the countries of Honduras and Nicaragua for days. In Nicaragua an estimated 800,000 people were left homeless and nearly 4,000 dead. In the wake of this disaster, like so many, there was an outpouring of aid and massive giving that most certainly was needed and appreciated but over a short period of time the outpouring of aid quickly turned into a trickle. It was at that time we decided that we would adopt a more long term approach to our work in Nicaragua, focusing on community growth and breaking the economic chains of generational poverty. Since then we have built nearly two dozen family homes, a community center used for trade education and feeding programs, roads and a recreational park with family picnic areas and a soccer/basketball court! We will be using this January trip to further our commitment to this community with plans for 6 new homes on recently purchased land!

Dental Clinics

Picture
Nearly every year we have been hosting free dental clinics, usually on the island of Omatepe in the middle of lake Nicaragua. Currently there are no dental facilities on the island with a population of over 44,000 people. Most of the island's population falls under the category of the poorest population in the world making an average of about a dollar a day. This is a much needed service and we are happy to have had dentists from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the USA and Canada join us in offering these clinics!

Free Concerts and Music

Picture
Music has been central to GWI since it's inception. We began by smuggling bibles and worship music, in native tongues, into closed nations for use by Christians who may have been arrested for just being in possession of them! Now wherever we go we try to offer free worship concerts in public venues in order to bless the Lord and lift up His name in the cities and the nations!
