Threads of Hope
|
"...Encourageing hearts that have been 'sewn' together in love...to attain all the wealth that comes from fully knowing Christ." - Col. 2:2-3 The goal of the Threads of Hope ministry is to sow and sew! We work to sow seeds of hope that lives, lifestyles and whole communities will be changed by the gospel message and by teaching people to sew. With tools and instruction, we provide an avenue to improve a family's quality of life. We help people develop products and learn basic Biblical business skills to earn additional income from selling sewn items, while sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we make relationships with others and weave the threads of Jesus (our beliefs and skills that are already sown into the "fabric" of our lives) we hope to create a global tapestry of one culture bound to another uniquely expressing the Kingdom of God on earth today. |

Grupo S.E.R. En Cristo
Grupo SER en Cristo is dedicated to seeing the Kingdom of God established in Latin America in the lives of individuals, families, churches, businesses, schools, cities and nations, where Jesus Christ rules over all the areas, giving priority to the ongoing search for his kingdom and his righteousness. We accomplish this by facilitating grass-roots community change through planning and working closely with local government, schools, churches and other community groups. Sustainable Farming
We have partnered with a Central American organization who's five year plan enables families with access to one hector of land create a completely self sustaining farms that should feed a family of 12 with enough product left over to generate nearly $1000 of extra income a year! The total investment of $5000 includes initial assessment and personalized planning, all 5 years of training, oversight & accountability, tools, seed, plants, adult animals, feed and fertilizer. This plan has had an astounding success rate in the past decade and we are committed to starting 10 of these farms on both the island of Omatepe and in the village of Los Braziles within the next 5 years!!!
Hydroponic (Urban) Co-Op Farms
Urban Co-ops are the future of farming. It involves groups of families with very little land working together across large cities utilizing simple hydroponic technology to provide inexpensive produce for themselves and their community. As long as there is access to sunlight the food can be grown with very little energy output. Under our plan the hydroponic "soil" is a mix of carbon (charcoal), pebbles and normally discarded food husks and casings (whatever is available), nearly all of the housing can be built from recycled materials, the water itself can be recycled with very little evaporation, add only the nutrients the plants need to grow with little to no pesticides required... Can't get any "greener" than that!
